Company intelligence / Profile preview
The Institute of Clinical Pharmacology (ICP) was a pioneering Irish contract research organization (CRO) that specialized in early-stage clinical drug development. Established in 1980 by Professor Desmond Fitzgerald, the company provided Phase I and Phase II clinical trial services, including pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic analysis, to the global pharmaceutical industry. Headquartered in Dublin, ICP grew to become one of the largest independent CROs in Europe before its acquisition. The company was renowned for its high-quality clinical facilities and its ability to conduct complex pharmacology studies for major international pharmaceutical firms. In 1998, it was acquired by the Canadian life sciences company MDS Inc. and was subsequently integrated into MDS Pharma Services.
