Instromedics

Instromedix was a medical technology company that specialized in the design and manufacture of cardiac monitoring devices and systems. The company was a pioneer in the field of transtelephonic electrocardiogram (ECG) monitoring, which allowed patients to record heart rhythm data during symptomatic events and transmit it to healthcare providers via telephone. Its product line featured well-known ambulatory event recorders, such as the King of Hearts and Queen of Hearts series, used for diagnosing transient arrhythmias. In 1999, Medtronic acquired Instromedix for approximately $45 million to expand its cardiac rhythm management business. The Instromedix brand and assets were later sold by Medtronic to CardioNet (now part of Philips) in 2007.
