INTERACEITUNA

Interaceituna is the Spanish Interprofessional Organization of Table Olives, a non-profit entity established in 2004 to represent the production, processing, and marketing sectors of the table olive industry. The organization is primarily dedicated to the international promotion of Spanish olives and the advancement of the sector through significant investment in research and development. Its R&D initiatives focus on the nutritional and health benefits of table olives, investigating their antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and cardioprotective properties, particularly the effects of bioactive compounds like hydroxytyrosol and oleic acid. Additionally, Interaceituna funds agricultural innovation projects, including mechanized harvesting techniques and the genetic improvement of olive varieties to enhance sustainability and yield. By collaborating with scientific institutions, the organization works to validate the role of table olives as a functional food within the Mediterranean diet.
