Founded in 2012 and based in Carlsbad, California, the company developed a proprietary, low-cost, and high-throughput sample preparation technology that enables large-scale genomic studies. Its technology, licensed from the Scripps Research Institute, focuses on improving DNA sequencing efficiency and reducing costs for applications in population genetics, agriculture, and microbiome research. In June 2021, iGenomX was acquired by Twist Bioscience for approximately $35 million, and its technology was subsequently integrated into Twist's portfolio as the 96-Plex Library Preparation Kit.
