It focused on performance-enhancing chemicals for consumer markets, including personal care and pharmaceuticals applications. Ashland Inc. acquired ISP for $3.2 billion on August 23, 2011. Post-acquisition, ISP integrated into Ashland's operations and ceased independent existence.
