International Tuberculosis Research Center

The International Tuberculosis Research Center (ITRC) is a South Korea-based non-profit research organization dedicated to the eradication of tuberculosis through advanced clinical development and laboratory research. Established in 2005 with support from the Korean government and the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH), the center serves as a critical hub for global clinical trials of new TB drugs, vaccines, and diagnostics. ITRC operates state-of-the-art Biosafety Level 3 (BSL-3) laboratories and specialized clinical facilities, enabling high-quality research on multidrug-resistant (MDR) and extensively drug-resistant (XDR) tuberculosis strains. The center collaborates extensively with international partners, including the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and various global pharmaceutical companies, to accelerate the delivery of life-saving treatments. Their work encompasses the entire development spectrum from early-stage laboratory research to large-scale Phase 3 clinical trials.
