Internet Capital Group

Internet Capital Group (ICG), later rebranded as Actua Corporation, was a prominent venture capital and holding company that specialized in the B2B e-commerce and software-as-a-service (SaaS) sectors. Founded in 1996, the company became a symbol of the dot-com era by operating as a "keiretsu" of partner companies, providing capital and strategic guidance to businesses in the internet infrastructure and services space. While its primary focus was on general business software, ICG held interests in healthcare-related technology firms such as HealthScribe, a medical transcription and healthcare business process outsourcing provider. The company transitioned its business model over time, eventually rebranding to Actua in 2014 before undergoing a planned liquidation of its assets starting in 2017. It is frequently confused with Intermediate Capital Group (ICG), a separate global asset manager with an active Life Sciences investment division.
