Company intelligence / Profile preview
Intrexon T1D Partners was a specialized biotechnology entity formed through a collaboration between Intrexon Corporation (now Precigen) and a group of investors including the JDRF T1D Fund. The company was dedicated to the clinical development of AG019, an oral live biotherapeutic designed to treat Type 1 Diabetes. AG019 leverages the ActoBiotics platform, which employs engineered Lactococcus lactis to deliver therapeutic proteins directly to the gut-associated lymphoid tissue. By delivering both human proinsulin and the anti-inflammatory cytokine interleukin-10, the therapy aims to induce antigen-specific regulatory T cells. This mechanism is intended to modulate the immune response and protect remaining pancreatic beta cells in patients with recent-onset disease. Following a corporate restructuring and rebranding of Intrexon to Precigen, the development of this program was consolidated under Precigen's subsidiary, ActoBio Therapeutics.
