Ioltech was a leading French medical technology company focused on the development and manufacture of intraocular lenses (IOLs) and ophthalmic surgical products. Established in 1990 and headquartered in La Rochelle, the company specialized in innovative solutions for cataract surgery, including foldable implants and viscoelastic substances. Ioltech grew to become a major player in the European ophthalmic market, offering a comprehensive range of surgical equipment and consumables. In 2005, the company was acquired by Alcon, the world's largest eye care company, in a deal valued at approximately 300 million Euros. This acquisition allowed Alcon to significantly strengthen its market position in Europe and integrate Ioltech's specialized technology into its global portfolio.
