Company intelligence / Profile preview
Iopharm Laboratories was a specialty pharmaceutical company focused on the development and manufacture of ophthalmic diagnostic products and therapeutic solutions. Based in Largo, Florida, the company produced a widely used portfolio of diagnostic stains, including Fluorescein Sodium (I-Stain), Rose Bengal (I-Rose), and Indocyanine Green (I-Green). These products became essential tools for clinicians performing eye examinations and ophthalmic surgeries. In 1997, Iopharm Laboratories was acquired by Akorn, Inc., a leading player in the ophthalmic and injectable drug markets. Following the acquisition, Iopharm's product lines were integrated into Akorn's specialty pharmacy division, though the original entity was eventually dissolved.
