IPC The Hospitalist Company (later rebranded as IPC Healthcare) was a leading national physician group practice management company focused exclusively on the delivery of hospitalist services. Founded in 1995, the company provided and managed specialized clinicians who coordinate care for patients within acute care hospitals and post-acute care facilities. IPC's business model centered on improving the quality of inpatient care while reducing costs through efficient management, standardized clinical protocols, and proprietary technology. At the time of its acquisition, it was one of the largest providers of its kind in the United States, employing thousands of clinicians across multiple states. The company was acquired by TeamHealth in 2015 to significantly expand their presence in the integrated hospital-based and post-acute physician services market.
