Company intelligence / Profile preview
IRB Services was a prominent independent institutional review board (IRB) that provided ethical review services for clinical research involving human subjects. Established in 1993 and headquartered in Aurora, Ontario, the company served as a critical partner for pharmaceutical sponsors, contract research organizations (CROs), and investigators across North America. It was the first independent IRB in Canada to earn accreditation from the Association for the Accreditation of Human Research Protection Programs (AAHRPP). The organization specialized in ensuring that clinical trial protocols and informed consent forms met stringent regulatory and ethical standards to protect study participants. In 2018, IRB Services was acquired by Advarra, a leader in regulatory and ethical review services, to expand its footprint in the Canadian market.
