Irish Medicines Verification Organization

The Irish Medicines Verification Organisation (IMVO) is a non-profit entity responsible for the implementation and management of the Irish Medicines Verification System (IMVS). Founded in compliance with the EU Falsified Medicines Directive (FMD), the organization's primary mission is to protect the legal supply chain from counterfeit medicines. IMVO provides the technical infrastructure that allows pharmacies and hospitals to verify the authenticity of prescription drugs at the point of dispense. It operates as the Irish component of the European Medicines Verification System (EMVS), working closely with manufacturers, wholesalers, and regulatory bodies. Through its governance and oversight, IMVO ensures patient safety by maintaining a secure and transparent pharmaceutical distribution network across Ireland.
