Irish National Pensions Reserve Fund

The Irish National Pensions Reserve Fund (NPRF) was a sovereign wealth fund established by the Government of Ireland in 2001 to meet the future costs of social welfare and public service pensions. Managed by the National Treasury Management Agency (NTMA), the fund originally invested in a diversified portfolio of global assets to maximize long-term returns. Following the Irish financial crisis, the fund's mandate was altered to support the Irish banking sector and domestic economic initiatives. In 2014, the NPRF was formally dissolved and its assets were transferred to the newly created Ireland Strategic Investment Fund (ISIF). While the fund held investments in various sectors including healthcare and life sciences, it operated strictly as a financial investment vehicle rather than a therapeutic developer.
