IRIX Pharmaceuticals was a privately held US-based contract research/manufacturing organization (CRO/CMO) specializing in the development, optimization, and GMP production of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) for small molecule drugs. The company provided process technology solutions and produced APIs for pre-clinical, clinical, and commercial use, recognized for its expertise in difficult-to-manufacture APIs and compliance with regulatory standards. It supported clients across all phases of drug development with advanced chemical synthesis capabilities, including high-potency compounds and controlled substances. As a service provider, it did not have its own clinical pipeline. IRIX Pharmaceuticals operated independently from its founding in 1996 in Florence, South Carolina, until its acquisition by Patheon in March 2015, after which the brand ceased independent operations.
