Company intelligence / Profile preview
ISTA Pharmaceuticals was a specialty pharmaceutical company focused on the development and commercialization of ophthalmic products for the treatment of eye diseases and conditions. The company's portfolio included several FDA-approved products, most notably Bromday for post-operative inflammation and Bepreve for allergic conjunctivitis. ISTA also marketed Vitrase, a hyaluronidase-based product used as an adjuvant to increase the absorption and dispersion of other injected drugs. In 2012, the company was acquired by Bausch + Lomb for approximately $500 million, which integrated ISTA's products into its global eye care business. The acquisition provided Bausch + Lomb with a robust pipeline of late-stage ophthalmic candidates and established commercial brands.
