Itera Ethanol

Itera-Ethanol was a specialized subsidiary of the Itera Group, a major Russian energy company, focused on the development and production of bioethanol. Established in the mid-2000s, the company aimed to build large-scale industrial biotechnology facilities to convert grain into fuel-grade ethanol, with a flagship project planned in the Sverdlovsk region. Following the acquisition of the parent Itera Group by Rosneft in 2013, the company's alternative energy and biofuel projects were largely discontinued or absorbed into broader state energy initiatives. The company represents an early attempt by the Russian energy sector to diversify into industrial biotechnology and renewable fuels.
