ITTEC (International Tissue & Transplant Engineering Co., Ltd.) was a pioneering South Korean biotechnology company founded in 2001, specializing in regenerative medicine and tissue engineering. The company achieved significant historical importance in 2002 when its lead product, Ossron, became the first autologous cultured osteoblast therapy to receive regulatory approval from the Korean Food and Drug Administration (KFDA). ITTEC focused on developing cell-based treatments for orthopedic conditions, particularly bone regeneration and cartilage repair. Despite its early success as a leader in the Korean cell therapy sector, the company faced severe financial and management challenges, eventually leading to its closure in the late 2000s. Its legacy remains as one of the first companies globally to successfully commercialize a cell therapy product.
