Ives Laboratories

Ives Laboratories was a specialized pharmaceutical company that operated as a division of American Home Products (later known as Wyeth). Based in New York City, the company focused on the development and commercialization of small molecule therapeutics for cardiovascular and psychiatric conditions. Its most significant product was Isordil (isosorbide dinitrate), which became a mainstay treatment for the management of angina pectoris. The company also marketed Surmontil, an antidepressant, and various other treatments for vascular and neurological disorders. In 1987, Ives Laboratories was merged with Ayerst Laboratories to form Wyeth-Ayerst Laboratories as part of a corporate restructuring by American Home Products. Following the acquisition of Wyeth by Pfizer in 2009, the legacy products of Ives Laboratories became part of the Pfizer portfolio.
