J-VGI

Japan Vaccine Co., Ltd. (J-VGI) was a joint venture established in 2012 between GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) and Daiichi Sankyo, focused on the development and commercialization of vaccines in the Japanese market. The company combined the vaccine portfolios and research capabilities of its parent organizations to address public health needs in Japan, including pediatric and adult immunization. Its product lineup included vaccines for rotavirus, human papillomavirus (HPV), and shingles, as well as combination vaccines for common childhood diseases. In 2018, GSK and Daiichi Sankyo announced the termination of the joint venture, with operations being integrated back into the respective parent companies by 2019. During its tenure, J-VGI served as a significant player in the Japanese vaccine landscape, streamlining the delivery of critical preventative medicines.
