The company was famously taken private in 2011 by affiliates of The Carlyle Group and Hellman & Friedman through the acquisition vehicle Jaguar Holdings, LLC. PPD offers a wide range of clinical trial services, laboratory services, and strategic consulting to pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical device companies. In December 2021, PPD was acquired by Thermo Fisher Scientific for approximately $17.4 billion, where it now operates as part of the Laboratory Products and Biopharma Services segment.
