James N. Gamble Institute of Medical Research

The James N. Gamble Institute of Medical Research was a prominent non-profit clinical research organization and medical research center based in Cincinnati, Ohio. Originally established in 1927 as the Christ Hospital Institute of Medical Research, it was renamed in 1984 to honor the son of Procter & Gamble's co-founder. The institute gained international fame for its pivotal role in vaccine development, most notably hosting Albert Sabin during his work on the oral polio vaccine. It specialized in virology, molecular biology, and clinical trial management, serving as a contract research partner for the pharmaceutical industry. In 2003, the institute was acquired by Westat, which integrated the facility and its expertise into its clinical research division.
