Japan Medical Materials

Japan Medical Materials (JMM) was a prominent Japanese medical device company specializing in the development and manufacture of orthopedic and dental implants. Established in 2004 as a joint venture between Kyocera Corporation and Kobe Steel, the company integrated Kyocera's advanced ceramic technologies with Kobe Steel's metallurgical expertise. JMM became a market leader in Japan for artificial hip and knee joints, notably through its Bioceram product line. In 2012, Kyocera acquired Kobe Steel's stake to make JMM a wholly-owned subsidiary, subsequently renaming it Kyocera Medical Corporation. The business was fully merged into Kyocera Corporation in 2017, where it continues to operate as a core part of Kyocera's medical business division.
