Japan Superconductor Technology

Japan Superconductor Technology (JASTEC) is a Japanese manufacturer of superconducting wires and superconducting magnets, with products used in NMR, MRI, research, and industrial applications. The company develops and supplies NbTi and Nb3Sn superconducting wire, cryogen-free magnets, high-field NMR magnets, and MRI-related superconducting systems. Although its products serve healthcare and pharmaceutical research through MRI and NMR instrumentation, JASTEC is not a drug developer or healthcare company; it is an enabling hardware and materials supplier. JASTEC was founded in 2002 and was acquired by JEOL in January 2025 after previously being a Kobe Steel group company. Its business is centered on commercial manufacturing and sale of superconducting components and magnet systems rather than therapeutics or clinical-stage assets.
