JDS Uniphase

JDS Uniphase (JDSU) was a leading provider of optical products and test and measurement solutions for the telecommunications and life sciences industries. In the healthcare and biotech sectors, the company was a major supplier of high-performance lasers, thin-film optical filters, and fluorescence detection components used in flow cytometry, DNA sequencing, and medical imaging. Their technology was foundational for high-throughput screening and molecular diagnostics platforms. In 2015, JDSU split into two independent public companies: Viavi Solutions, which inherited the network and service enablement business, and Lumentum Holdings, which took over the optical components and commercial laser operations.
