Company intelligence / Profile preview
JEGC OCC Corp. was a private investment vehicle and holding company established in 2007 to facilitate a management-led acquisition of OccuLogix, Inc. (formerly NASDAQ: OCCX). Formed as a joint venture between Greybrook Corporation and Jefferson EquiCorp Ltd., the entity was specifically designed to consolidate ownership of OccuLogix’s ophthalmic device portfolio, which included the RHEO System for dry age-related macular degeneration and the SOLX glaucoma treatment line. Although JEGC successfully acquired an initial tranche of shares from TLC Vision Corporation, the full acquisition of the remaining stake was hindered by financing difficulties and shifting market conditions. The company represents a strategic attempt to restructure and capitalize on specialized medical technologies in the ophthalmology sector during the late 2000s.
