Jenner Biotherapeutics was a clinical-stage biotechnology company focused on the development of active specific immunotherapies for the treatment of cancer. The company's lead product candidate, OncoVax, was a personalized vaccine designed to prevent the recurrence of Stage II colon cancer by utilizing a patient's own tumor cells. This autologous approach aimed to stimulate the immune system to recognize and destroy remaining micrometastases following surgical resection. Jenner successfully advanced OncoVax into Phase 3 clinical trials before being acquired by Intracel in 2003. The company's research also explored the application of its immunotherapy platform in other indications, such as melanoma.
