Joint Health Institute

The Alberta Bone and Joint Health Institute (ABJHI), now continuing as the Institute for Improved Health Outcomes (IIHO), is an independent charitable organization dedicated to improving the quality of care for individuals with bone and joint conditions. Founded in 2004, the institute serves as a catalyst for health system transformation by developing evidence-based care pathways, digital health platforms, and data-driven decision support tools. Its flagship platform, MAP to MOTION, integrates patient-reported data with health records to empower patients and inform clinical practice. ABJHI collaborates extensively with Alberta Health Services, academic institutions, and industry partners to implement innovative solutions like the Catch a Break osteoporosis program and the GLA:D exercise program. The institute's work focuses on optimizing patient flow, reducing wait times, and enhancing outcomes across the continuum of musculoskeletal care.
