Jouveinal

Jouveinal was a prominent French pharmaceutical company specializing in the development and commercialization of treatments for gastroenterology and respiratory diseases. The company was best known for its flagship products, including the antispasmodic Debridat (trimebutine) and the macrolide antibiotic Josacine (josamycin). Founded in 1946 by Jean Jouveinal, the firm established a strong research and manufacturing presence in Fresnes, France. In 1995, Jouveinal was acquired by the American pharmaceutical giant Warner-Lambert for approximately $935 million to bolster its European operations. Following the subsequent merger of Warner-Lambert and Pfizer in 2000, Jouveinal's assets and product portfolio were fully integrated into Pfizer's global business. Today, the Jouveinal name persists primarily in the context of its legacy brands and historical contributions to French pharmacy.
