Junken Medical

Junken Medical is a Japanese medical device company focused on cardiovascular surgery and blood purification products. The company originated from Ube Circulation Research Institute and has been associated with development of domestically produced heart-lung machines in Japan. Its commercial portfolio includes artificial heart-lung units, dialysis and blood purification equipment, polyester artificial blood vessels, and related surgical and measurement devices. Junken Medical appears to operate as a commercial medtech manufacturer and distributor rather than a drug-development biotech company. The company was acquired by Japan Lifeline in February 2009, but the Junken Medical name and product brand appear to have remained in use in the market.
