Justice Resource Institute

Justice Resource Institute (JRI) is one of the largest nonprofit human services organizations in New England. Founded in Massachusetts in 1973 to address challenges from deinstitutionalization and gaps in justice/human services systems, it now operates over 100 programs across Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Rhode Island. JRI provides outpatient mental health clinics; intensive community-based behavioral health; residential treatment for youth with acute symptoms or developmental disabilities; foster care/adoption supports; specialized schools for at-risk children; HIV/HCV case management and housing supports; substance use disorder programs; juvenile justice alternatives to incarceration/probation models. Its approach emphasizes trauma-informed care using the ARC framework developed at JRI—now recognized nationally as best practice.
