Juvantia

Juvantia Pharma was a Finnish clinical-stage biotechnology company specializing in the development of small molecule therapeutics for central nervous system (CNS) disorders. The company's primary focus was on the alpha-2C adrenergic receptor, leading to the development of its flagship candidate, fipamezole, for the treatment of levodopa-induced dyskinesia in Parkinson's disease. Founded as a spin-off from the University of Turku, Juvantia successfully advanced fipamezole through Phase 2b clinical trials. In 2009, the company was acquired by Santhera Pharmaceuticals, which sought to expand its portfolio in movement disorders.
