Kabi Pharmacia was a prominent Swedish pharmaceutical company formed in 1990 through the merger of KabiVitrum and Pharmacia. The company was a global leader in biotechnology and specialized therapeutics, most notably recognized for developing Genotropin, one of the world's first recombinant human growth hormones. Its diverse portfolio also included Healon, a breakthrough hyaluronan-based product for ophthalmic surgery, and a strong suite of clinical nutrition and hematology treatments. In 1995, Kabi Pharmacia merged with the American firm Upjohn to form Pharmacia & Upjohn, which was eventually integrated into Pfizer in 2003.
