KabiVitrum

KabiVitrum was a prominent Swedish pharmaceutical company formed in 1978 through the merger of Kabi and Vitrum. The company was a global leader in intravenous nutrition, notably developing the landmark fat emulsion Intralipid, which revolutionized clinical care for patients unable to consume food orally. KabiVitrum was also a pioneer in biotechnology, collaborating with Genentech to develop Genotropin, one of the first recombinant human growth hormones. Additionally, the company held a significant market share in blood plasma products, including treatments for hemophilia. In 1990, KabiVitrum merged with Pharmacia, and through subsequent consolidations, its legacy businesses eventually became part of Pfizer and Fresenius Kabi.
