Company intelligence / Profile preview
Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of Ohio was the Ohio regional health plan associated with Kaiser Permanente, operating as a health maintenance organization and integrated managed care business in Northeast Ohio. It provided commercial and government health insurance coverage and coordinated care services rather than developing therapeutics or a drug pipeline. In October 2013, its Ohio health plan and care delivery operations were acquired and rebranded under HealthSpan, and the legacy Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of Ohio name became historical. Subsequent public reporting indicates that HealthSpan later discontinued its insurance activities, so the original entity should be treated as inactive from a company status perspective. For biotech and pharma diligence purposes, this is a healthcare payer/provider organization, not a therapeutics developer.
