Company intelligence / Profile preview
Kali Laboratories was a specialty generic pharmaceutical company focused on the development of complex and difficult-to-replicate drug formulations. Founded in 1997 and headquartered in Somerset, New Jersey, the company built a robust portfolio of Abbreviated New Drug Applications (ANDAs) targeting therapeutic areas such as pain management and central nervous system disorders. In May 2004, Kali was acquired by Par Pharmaceutical for $135 million in cash, a move intended to bolster Par's R&D pipeline and manufacturing expertise. The acquisition provided Par with several key generic products, including a generic version of Ultracet. Following the acquisition, Kali's operations were integrated into Par Pharmaceutical, which later became a subsidiary of Endo International. The company was recognized for its expertise in formulation science and its ability to navigate the regulatory requirements for high-barrier generic entries.
