Kalo Pharma

Kalo Pharma (officially Kalo Pharma Internacional, S.L.U.) was a Spanish holding company that served as the primary ownership vehicle for CFR Pharmaceuticals, a leading Latin American pharmaceutical company based in Chile. In 2014, Abbott Laboratories acquired Kalo Pharma and its approximately 73% stake in CFR for approximately $2.9 billion, marking one of the most significant healthcare acquisitions in the region. The deal integrated CFR's extensive portfolio of over 1,000 branded generic products across 15 markets into Abbott's Established Pharmaceuticals Division. Through its subsidiaries, the company focused on key therapeutic areas including women's health, central nervous system disorders, cardiovascular health, and respiratory medicine. Today, the operations and assets formerly under Kalo Pharma have been fully absorbed into Abbott's global emerging markets business.
