Kastle Therapeutics was a biopharmaceutical company focused on the acquisition, development, and commercialization of therapies for rare and orphan diseases. The company's primary asset was KYNAMRO (mipomersen sodium), an FDA-approved antisense oligonucleotide indicated for the treatment of homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia (HoFH), which it acquired from Ionis Pharmaceuticals in 2016. Headquartered in Chicago and backed by the private equity firm Flexpoint Ford, Kastle aimed to revitalize specialty assets that were under-resourced within larger pharmaceutical organizations. In 2018, the company was acquired by Ironshore Pharmaceuticals, a subsidiary of Highland Therapeutics, to expand their portfolio of specialty medicines.
