KeraVision

KeraVision was a medical device company specializing in ophthalmic surgery products, most notably the Intacs corneal implants. These micro-thin prescription inserts were designed to be surgically placed in the peripheral cornea to treat refractive errors like myopia and corneal thinning disorders such as keratoconus. The company successfully navigated the FDA approval process for Intacs in the late 1990s and was publicly traded on the NASDAQ. However, due to slower-than-expected market adoption and financial constraints, KeraVision filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2001. Its technology and assets were subsequently acquired by Addition Technology, which continued the commercialization of the Intacs product line.
