Kineta Chronic Pain, LLC is a clinical-stage biotechnology subsidiary of Kineta focused on the development of first-in-class, non-opioid therapies for chronic neuropathic pain. The company's lead candidate, KCP506, is a potent and selective α9α10 nicotinic acetylcholine receptor (nAChR) antagonist derived from α-conotoxin peptides found in cone snail venom. Designed to address the significant unmet need for safe and effective pain management, KCP506 aims to provide analgesia and anti-inflammatory effects without the addictive potential or central nervous system side effects associated with traditional opioids. The program has targeted indications such as chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN) and diabetic neuropathy. In February 2025, Kineta Chronic Pain entered into an agreement to sell its KCP506 assets to Pacira Pharmaceuticals as part of a strategic restructuring of its parent company.
