Kingston Economic Development Corporation

Kingston Economic Development Corporation (KEDCO) is a not-for-profit agency established in 1998 to serve as the sales and marketing arm for the City of Kingston, Ontario. It focuses on attracting new investment, supporting existing businesses, fostering start-ups and entrepreneurs, and providing comprehensive support for companies in sectors including life sciences. While it does not itself conduct R&D or clinical trials, it plays a key role in building infrastructure and funding programs—such as HELIX Funding—to accelerate commercialization for early-stage life science ventures in Eastern Ontario. Its initiatives include access to BSL‑2 wet lab space at Providence Care Hospital, tailored business supports, commercialization funding up to $100k per project through matching grants, and an extensive validation network with over twenty partners.
