Kiora Pharmaceuticals has advanced two main programs into Phase II clinical development. KIO‑301, a first-in-class molecular photoswitch designed to restore light sensitivity in patients with inherited or age-related retinal degeneration, showed increased brain activity correlating with restored light perception in the ABACUS‑1 trial and has begun the pivotal ABACUS‑2 Phase II study. KIO‑104, an intravitreal small molecule DHODH inhibitor for inflammatory retinal diseases such as posterior non-infectious uveitis and diabetic macular edema, completed successful first-in-human studies and will enter the KLARITY Phase II trial. The company maintains strong financials with cash runway projected into at least late 2026–2027 due to its partnership with Laboratoires Théa funding R&D on KIO‑301.
