Company intelligence / Profile preview
Kitasato Pharmaceutical Industry Co., Ltd. was a Japanese pharmaceutical company specializing in the sales and distribution of vaccines and diagnostic reagents. Established in 1955 as a joint venture between Meiji Seika Pharma and The Kitasato Institute, the company served as a critical commercial partner for biological products in Japan for nearly 70 years. Its portfolio included essential vaccines for influenza, mumps, and measles-rubella, which were marketed through collaborations with major industry players such as Daiichi Sankyo and KM Biologics. In September 2022, the company was dissolved as part of a strategic move by the Meiji Group to consolidate its infectious disease business and streamline vaccine sales operations. The liquidation of the entity was officially completed in early 2024, with its business functions fully integrated into Meiji Seika Pharma.
