Klearsen

KlearSen was a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on the development of therapies for Niemann-Pick Disease Type C (NPC), a rare and fatal genetic disorder. The company's primary asset was KLS-101, a proprietary formulation of hydroxypropyl beta cyclodextrin (HPβCD) intended to treat the systemic and neurological manifestations of NPC by facilitating cholesterol transport. KlearSen worked closely with regulatory bodies and patient advocacy groups to advance its clinical program toward pivotal studies. In March 2020, the company was acquired by Cyclo Therapeutics in an all-stock transaction designed to unify the development of HPβCD for the NPC community. Following the acquisition, KlearSen's operations and assets were integrated into Cyclo Therapeutics' pipeline, specifically supporting the global Phase 3 TransportNPC™ trial.
