Kohjin Bio is a Japanese biotechnology company specializing in the development, manufacturing, and sale of cell culture media, microbiological testing media, and in vitro diagnostics. Founded in 1981 and headquartered in Sakado, Japan, the company is a leading contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) for clinical-use cell culture media used in regenerative medicine and immunotherapy. Its flagship products include the KBM series of serum-free media, which are optimized for the expansion of immune cells (such as NK cells and T cells) and mesenchymal stem cells. Additionally, Kohjin Bio operates a contract cell processing business under Japan's Regenerative Medicine Safety Act, supplying therapeutic cells to medical institutions, and has established a joint venture with Ajinomoto (Ajinomoto Kohjin Bio) to expand its clinical-grade media manufacturing capabilities.
