Kompetenznetz Sepsis

Kompetenznetz Sepsis, also known as SepNet, is a prominent German clinical research network focused on the epidemiology, diagnosis, and treatment of sepsis and septic shock. Established as a non-profit organization, it coordinates multi-center clinical trials and maintains a comprehensive sepsis registry to improve patient outcomes in intensive care units. The network is renowned for conducting high-impact, randomized controlled trials such as VISEP and SISPOT, which have shaped international clinical guidelines. SepNet facilitates collaboration between university hospitals and community clinics across Germany to bridge the gap between basic research and clinical practice. Its work is primarily supported by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and the Deutsche Sepsis-Gesellschaft.
