Kowa Research Institute, Inc. (KRI) is the clinical research and development arm of Kowa Company, Ltd., a Japanese multinational conglomerate. Located in Morrisville, North Carolina, KRI is responsible for the clinical development of Kowa's pharmaceutical pipeline in the United States, focusing on therapeutic areas such as cardiovascular disease, metabolic disorders, and ophthalmology. The company manages all aspects of clinical trials, from Phase 1 through Phase 3, as well as regulatory affairs and safety reporting. KRI played a pivotal role in the development of Livalo (pitavastatin) and continues to advance novel therapies like pemafibrate for dyslipidemia. Its mission is to bring innovative medicines from Kowa's global research labs to the North American market.
