Company intelligence / Profile preview
Kraft General Foods was a large U.S. packaged food company created in 1989 after Philip Morris combined Kraft, Inc. with General Foods following its acquisition of Kraft. The business marketed a broad portfolio of consumer food brands across cheese, grocery, beverages, desserts, frozen foods, and meat products, and operated as a major food subsidiary of Philip Morris. It was not a life sciences, biotechnology, pharmaceutical, or healthcare company. In January 1995, Kraft General Foods was renamed Kraft Foods, Inc. as part of a reorganization into a single operating company. Its corporate lineage ultimately became part of the modern Kraft/Mondelez/Kraft Heinz structure through later spin-offs, mergers, and reorganizations.
