Kyowa Medex

Kyowa Medex is a Japanese medical diagnostics company that specializes in the development, manufacturing, and sale of in vitro diagnostic (IVD) reagents and automated analyzers. Originally established as a subsidiary of Kyowa Hakko Kogyo (now Kyowa Kirin), the company became a global leader in clinical chemistry, particularly known for its pioneering "direct" methods for measuring HDL and LDL cholesterol. In 2018, Kyowa Kirin sold the company to Hitachi Chemical (now Resonac) for approximately 35 billion JPY to focus on its core pharmaceutical business. Following the acquisition, the company was rebranded as Minaris Medical in 2021. Its product portfolio includes a wide range of reagents for lipid testing, diabetes management, and renal function monitoring. The company continues to operate as a key player in the global diagnostics market under its new corporate identity.
