LabNow was a medical technology company focused on developing point-of-care diagnostic systems based on "lab-on-a-chip" technology. The company's core platform, the Bio-Nano-Chip (BNC), was designed to perform complex laboratory tests on a small, disposable plastic chip using microfluidic principles. Its lead application was a portable CD4 cell count test intended for monitoring HIV patients in resource-limited settings, providing lab-quality results in minutes. LabNow aimed to decentralize healthcare by bringing sophisticated diagnostics directly to the patient's side, significantly reducing the time and cost associated with traditional centralized testing. Although the company attracted significant venture capital and successfully demonstrated its platform's utility in field trials, it eventually ceased operations.
